Vivian Mabuni is a dynamic Asian American author and speaker who is passionate about seeing God raise up a generation of leaders who will have a cultural and spiritual impact on campuses, families, churches and communities around the world.

After joining the staff with Cru 30 years ago, Vivian went on to serve on the campuses of UC Berkeley and UCLA. She served ten years with Epic, the Asian American ministry of Cru and currently works with Cru City partnering with leaders who seek to help serve the different communities in large metropolitan cities around the country.

In her first book, Warrior In Pink: A Story of Cancer, Community and the God Who Comforts Vivian takes a stark, honest look at her diagnoses and treatment. And in the midst of the narrative, she helps the reader discover where to find encouragement and how to pass that encouragement on to others. Her second book, Open Hands, Willing Heart: Discover the Joy of Saying Yes to God (WaterBrook, a division of Penguin Random House) releases July 2019

As a speaker, Vivian is always an inspiration, Biblically sound and culturally relevant. She loves teaching about the Bible, and its practical application to ministry and life. She has spoken at conferences, universities and churches across the country including the IF:Gathering, Women of Willow, UC Santa Barbara, Vanguard University, Biola University, QCommons, and she has been a keynote speaker at the CRU winter conferences in Portland, L.A., Denver, Indianapolis, Dallas and Atlanta.

Here’s what others are saying about Vivian:

“Vivian is a mix of two of my favorite things: compassionate and bold. Her leadership is needed in this generation, not only as a woman of color, but as a pure-hearted, fiery lover of Jesus.”

— JENNIE ALLEN | Author of Nothing To Prove and Founder of IF:Gathering

“Vivian is a passionate and compelling communicator. She preaches and teaches with Biblical depth, personal stories, and practical insight. Add these talents to her love for people, vast leadership experience across cultures, and contexts and generations. Vivian is a gift to the wider church and an asset to any event or conference.”

— JO SAXTON | Author of The Dream Of You and CHAIR OF 3DMOVEMENTS BOARD

Vivian lives in Southern California with her husband of 27 years, Darrin, and their three wonderful kids, Jonathan, Michael, and Julia.
